Utah lawmaker Jim Nielson attempts to stop the use of daylight saving time in Utah. According to him the change of time twice a year disturbs the sleep of children, is unbeneficial for elderly people and people with disabilities such as Autism.
Last time the same topic was up in Utah in 2010 but failed to pass since lack of strong enough grounds. Similar and so far unsuccessful attempts have been in Colorado and in Nebraska.
The federal government allows each state to decided themselves whether to apply summer time or not. Daylight saving time in the U.S. begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November. Currently only two states, Hawaii and Arizona, are staying in standard time year round.
